Monthly Bird Walk at Commons Ford November 2015

11/15/2015 07:00 AM - 11:00 AM CT

Description

Join Deb and Lee Walace for our monthly field trip to Commons Ford Ranch Metropolitan Park on Sunday, November 15. Many of our wintering birds will be back by then, including most of the sparrow species. We have a good chance of finding Savannah, Lincoln’s, LeConte’s and Vesper Sparrows and other good birds are always to be had. Given the excellent growth in the prairie this spring and summer, we are looking forward to an active fall and winter.  Come join us for a fun day on the prairie.  Registration is required and participation is limited to 15 participants. These trips fill quickly so reserve your spot early. For questions, or for waiting list if trip is full, contact Deb Wallace at apeld@austin.rr.com. Full details will be provided to registrants the week of the scheduled walk.

If you are not familiar with the park, Commons Ford Prairie Restoration Organization, with its committed volunteers and partners, has been conducting a native prairie restoration project in the forty-acre centerpiece of the park since 2009.  For more information on the restoration, please visit here. You will find a pictorial history of the restoration here. To make a tax-free donation to this important project, please visit here.

Commons Ford Ranch is located only a few miles west of the intersection of Bee Caves Rd. and Loop 360. There will be extensive walking but mostly on level ground. Bring water and snacks to make it through a full morning, and dress appropriately for the weather, including sturdy, close-toed shoes.
