Commons Ford Monthly Bird Walk with Shelia Hargis

Summary

Commons Ford Monthly Field Trip

Description

Summer in Austin is a great time to watch birds. Our breeding birds are busy raising their young so this provides opportunities to observe interesting plumages (some young birds look very different from their parents) and interesting behavior. Join Shelia Hargis for a field trip focusing on the birds that breed at Commons Ford and their behavior. We’ll walk even slower than normal identifying and discussing bird behavior, discussing the natural history of some of the species we encounter, practicing our ID skills on immature birds, and practicing our birding-by-ear skills. The trip is limited to 12 participants and reservations are required. More details will be provided a week or so before the field trip. For questions, to register or to be put on a waiting list if the trip is full, contact Shelia at shelia.hargis@gmail.com.
